The Wildcats played in a war with Sacred Heart Cathedral last Tuesday, as the team needed nine innings to down the Fightin’ Irish.

Wildcats ace Ashley Miller threw every pitch for Woodside, earning her Athlete of the Week honors from CCSsportsline.com.

Miller struck out nine batters and walked just two in her team’s 4-3 extra-inning victory. The senior has now won a section-leading seven games for Woodside. Miller’s only loss this season came against Notre Dame, when the Wildcats’ defense made four errors.

Miller has beaten Gonzales, Monte Vista Christian, Lynbrook, King City, Del Mar, Menlo and Sacred Heart Cathedral this season. The ace is also among the section’s leaders in strikeouts, with Miller having struck out 77 hitters in 55 innings of work.
