The Bellarmine boys’ volleyball team is quickly establishing itself as one of the top teams in the Central Coast Section, if not all of Northern California. The Bells (15-1, 4-0) got a huge week from senior middle blocker Matt Aiello, who earned CCSsportsline.com Athlete of the Week honors.

The 6-foot-5 Aiello was successful on 39 of 51 attempts and only committed six errors. The senior’s .647 kill percentage led all Bells last week.

“Matt was as proficient a hitter as they come,” head coach Scott Petersen said.

Aiello helped the Bells win league matches against Archbishop Mitty and St. Francis before heating up to help Bellarmine win the Dos Pueblos Invitational with a three-set win over the host Chargers.

The Bells and Aiello are back in action this week in a WCAL matchup with Sacred Heart Cathedral tonight. Bellarmine will then play in the Leland Charger Classic, with games beginning at 8 a.m.
